Help and Frequently Asked Questions

Happy You is quite different to your typical shampoo and conditioner, so please don't expect them to feel the same.

Your shampoo will only have a little bit of foam. More foam does not mean a better clean! :)

Your conditioner won't feel super slidy and slippy. Work it through your hair and wait 1-2 minutes before washing out to feel the glorious conditioning effect.

Less is more! We find you need LESS Happy You than conventional haircare products.

Some bonus good news for you: Over time you'll find you don't need to wash your hair as often when you use Happy You Hair products.

When you switch to Happy You Hair there might be a short period (up to 14 days) where you need to adjust to no longer having an artificial silicone coating on your hair.

Your hair just needs this time to rebalance and find its natural health. Stick with it - it is totally worth it for the shine and lustre you’ll soon have!

This happens because if you’ve been using a typical supermarket hair care brand then you’ve probably been using silicones. Silicones protect your hair but they also do a lot of things that are not so good. Like coating your hair and preventing nutrients from being delivered, and building up over time to weigh your hair down. Not to mention that they have a negative impact on our waterways since they’re not biodegradable.

Yes, due to their low pH, Happy You products are all colour safe. Not just that, we have included ingredients to prolong the life of the colour in your hair.

The short answer is YES :)

The long answer:

Many of our products have essential oils because we stay well away from artificial fragrances. When it comes to essential oils there is no clear cut answer about whether or not you should use them during pregnancy.

Our belief is that many are safe at the very low levels that we use them. But some definitely need to be avoided during pregnancy because they're emmenagogues (stimulates blood flow in the pelvic area). These are oils such as clary sage, sweet marjoram, vetiver and juniper.

We do not use any essential oil that is considered a definite 'no no' during pregnancy. The essential oils we do use are at a very low percentages with the total of essential oil being under 1% which it is considered OK when used topically (by some, you'll find lots of conflicting advice on the net). So it is up to you if you are comfortable with this.

For an anecdotal personal experience Phoebe used all of our products during her last pregnancy without an issues.

If you still want to avoid essential oils entirely that's OK because we still have products for you. Our Gentle Conditioner is essnetial oil free and we'll be releasing our unscented Gentle shampoo in 2021!

They sure are. All of our formulas are Curly Girl approved according to Curlsbot.

We have oodles of curly and wavy haired Happies and they find that our range gives fabulous definition to their curls and we've had lots of emails telling us how delighted our customers are with their ringlets!

Yes, our Happy You Hair range can help with dandruff.

Dandruff is a result of the health of your scalp, as it is made up of flakes of dead skin.

Our gentle probiotic-based formulas will restore your scalp health and reduce dandruff.

Yes you can happily use our range if you have blonde or bleached hair without worrying about compromising your colour.

Yes! As skincare experts we know all about sensitive skin and dermatitis so we've created Happy You to be a range that has scalp health at its core.

Not many people realise this but the excess shampoo and conditioner you’ve been washing down the drain can make our turtle and dolphin friends unhappy. This includes some solid shampoo bars which use ingredients that have a rating of ‘high’ on the marine toxicity scale.

That's why we set out to create this range of natural hair care products that do things differently. Click here to learn more about our ingredients.
